 in the selection of assignments listed below.

Tourism n n n

n        Regional Tourism Strategy 1999-2008 for the Mid Wales Partnership.   Completed early in 1999, this strategy was developed with full participation of a broadly representative group of the trade and public sector to create a ‘Made in Mid Wales’ strategy.   The final document clearly shows the actions required (and responsibility for implementation) to drive increased economic benefit for the region. 

n        Preparation of a detailed tourism marketing action plan for West Lothian.   This specified a range of marketing activities aimed at spreading tourists within West Lothian beyond the ‘honeypot’ of Linlithgow Palace. 

n        Development of a range of options for the future marketing of Folkestone/Shepway District, providing the basis for the future tourism strategy.

n        MPA were appointed, jointly with Deloitte and Touche, Dublin, by Bord Fáilte/ Wales Tourist Board to determine opportunities for joint tourism marketing in the Wales/Ireland INTERREG II area.  

n        A future business barometer was established amongst London hotels to provide information to the BTA Board to improve their ability to identify areas for future marketing support.

n        Development of a business planning format for Tourist Information Centre management in England for the English Tourist Board.   This included launching the concept at the annual TIC conference, operating a trial implementation and refining of the approach in preparation for a national launch.

n        Review and evaluation of the effectiveness of two grant schemes for the tourism industry, covering accommodation and attractions for Enterprise Ayrshire.  The future structure of the schemes was recommended and a full written review of the schemes prepared.

n        Projections of future supply of, and demand for, serviced accommodation in Cardiff to 2002 and an assessment of the impact of the European Summit 1998 and Rugby World Cup 1999 on demand for Wales Tourist Board/Cardiff County Council.

n        Preparation of the North Wales Tourism Strategy for the period 1997-2005, covering growth projections, product development and marketing strategies.

n        A market and financial feasibility study for a new resort on the island of Anuha in the Solomon Islands.
