Numerous studies have been carried out evaluating trading prospects for new hotel developments and investment in existing properties. These have involved detailed analysis of competitive hotel performance, projections of demand growth, identification of future competitive developments and detailed rooms revenue modelling. Recent locations include, West London/Heathrow, Tunbridge Wells, Cambridge, Blackpool, Norwich and Birmingham.
Following projects in Ireland in 2007, during 2008 MPA worked for three further 5 Star Irish hotels on the development of highly focussed marketing strategies and action plans. These are carried out in close collaboration with the individual hotel’s management teams to ensure plans are fully supported by those responsible for their implementation.
Working for a Belgian-based client MPA reviewed the market opportunity for a 300 bedroom residential conference centre in West London.
Working in association with Mike Williamson, an Edinburgh-based golf specialist, MPA reviewed a number of golf resort development proposals in Northern Ireland.
For a private owner, a management performance review was undertaken of an Oxford hotel, assessing its performance in the marketplace and the overall competence of the management team.

A number of hotel supply and demand analyses have been carried out for Local Authorities and Tourism bodies to aid future planning and investment decisions. These have involved regional projections of hotel demand over periods of up to 10 years and identification of the number of hotel rooms required to future need. Locations have included South East Wales, South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
Working for Visit Wales MPA provided an independent review of the business plans and financial projections for a major hotel investment project to assist them in assessing an application for investment grant support.
Developing a business planning format, on behalf of the English Tourist Board, for use by accommodation businesses of up to 50 rooms, to guide them in the preparation of robust plans.
Hands-on projects have included roles as marketing advisor to individual and group hotels operating in receivership, and interim Marketing Directorship for a hotel company going through a lengthy sales process.
